The Long Arm Rental Classes are $110 per person and have only two people on each machine, in a hands–on, five-hour class. Classes are from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm the day of the week varies, but if you have a date in mind you can call and book ahead. Payment is required at registration.
You will need to bring a blank, unlined sketchbook and a pencil. You also need to bring your lunch, or lunch money, we do have a fridge and microwave available. We supply the quilt tops, backings and batting.
In the class you will learn how to load your quilt and the basics of using the machine, such as bringing up the thread from the bottom, starting and ending. We will cover basic free motion quilting such as all–over loops, swirls, loops and stars, etc. We will also cover using an all–over pantograph pattern— how to set it up and how to roll your quilt. You will use a laser light on the machine to follow the pantograph pattern.
By the end of class you will be able to quilt an all–over design on your own quilt.
Once you’ve taken the basic Long Arm Class, we invite you to rent a long arm machine by the hour and get those quilt tops made into quilts! The machines rent for $20/hour. Machine rental is by appointment and the hours are flexible. We have lots of pantograph patterns available to purchase and we are willing to order others if you find something you would like to quilt.
You will need to bring in your own tops and backs to quilt after you have taken the class. We do sell batting, so you may purchase batting from us, or you may bring in your own.
